Helen Keller is an historical figure whose experience and life’s work transcend her disabilities and place her among the twentieth century’s most notable personalities.
The DCMP has launched a new Helen Keller webpage that includes videos and other resources that chronicle the life and work of this amazing woman. Also, thanks to Phoenix Learning Group, we’re pleased to offer the Academy Award–winning Helen Keller In Her Story to everyone (no DCMP account needed) until May 26 (watch with captions or watch with description).
May is Family Wellness Month (read about it in our May newsletter), and the DCMP has compiled a list of titles from its free-loan collection that provide valuable information geared toward keeping you and your family healthy (and, hopefully, happy)!
See our “Family & Parenting” flyer [PDF] and our “Health & Wellness” flyer [PDF] for links to a few of the hundreds of family health-related titles avilable from the DCMP.
The DCMP provides training resources for new and experienced captioning vendors—the Captioning Key for Educational Media—and description vendors—the Description Key for Educational Media.
Both sets of guidelines are available from DCMP’s new “Keys to Access” section at dcmp.org/KeystoAccess.
The DCMP’s media collection is built on the recommendations of the professionals and families we serve.
If you know of K–12 educational media that need to be made accessible via captioning and description, please recommend them to us. We would love to hear from you!
